Certification

Graduates of the James Madison University Master of Occupational Therapy Program are eligible to apply to take the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy Board Exam ® (NBCOT). Applicants should be aware that a Character Review is part of the certification process. Please go to the NBCOT Character Review website at https://www.nbcot.org/Students/Services#character A felony conviction may affect a graduate’s eligibility to sit for the NBCOT exam and/or apply for state licensure.

Effective January 1, 2018: candidates applying as first-time test takers will be subject to background checks.

Graduation Data

To date, 379 students have successfully graduated from the James Madison University Master of Occupational Therapy Program. Graduation is held in December. During the last three-year period of 2020-2022, seventy (70) students graduated, with an overall graduation rate of 93%
